May Currently

Holy Crap on a Cracker! It's MAY. Not April...not March...MAY! AHHH. I'm on FREAK OUT mode, because this year we get out in May, not June. That means all of our state testing has been moved UP. I'm nervous for my kiddos because this year is the first year for their testing! So, I'm linking up with Farley for May Currently!

Listening: Netflix.... we cancelled Dish. So far, the only things I miss...Big Bang Theory, and my Real Housewives Addiction. It's probably a good thing that I can't watch RH. Right now, the documentary is on Jeffery Dahmer. Yes, the serial killer. I love watching Law and Order, Criminal Minds, and other shows like this. I am a people watcher. I like to people watch, and I always have. You can observe so much just from watching people. I love to watch documentaries about ANYTHING from history, or mysteries/unsolved crimes. Blame it on my Grandmother's favorite show being Murder, She Wrote. It was the only show I was allowed to watch at my grandparents other than the news, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. 

Loving: My New Followers!!! I am celebrating my 100 followers this week with a Giveaway! You can still enter here for a chance to win one of MANY great prizes! The second thing I'm loving -- this Currently Design. I LOVE the flowers and the colors!! 

Thinking: 4 days. FOUR DAYS....Our first state test is only 4 days away. Eeek! We start with Science (which I teach), then Friday we have Social Studies, then Reading the next week, then Math the week after! Then, we are DONE. We only have a few actual school days after state testing! Tomorrow is our SOL kickoff at school. 

Wanting: ALL the Erin Condren things. I got an email today with the Teacher Appreciation things. I really want to splurge for next year and get the Lesson Planner. I also would LOVE a Life Planner from EC. I've heard people say they can't live without theirs, and I really want to try one. 

Needing: Prayers for one of our teachers. Her husband was diagnosed with brain cancer a few months back, and she has been out of work taking care of him. Last weekend, we did a pancake fundraiser for them, and I came up with a new idea. Fridays for the rest of the year will be known as Flip Flops for Frank! We will wear flip flops (which we usually are NOT allowed to wear!) and donate $2 to wear them. All the $ collected will go to them! 

Surprise: Melissa over at Don't Let the Teacher Stay Up Late is celebrating on her blog! 850 followers! I donated my Graphs pack to the giveaway, and she's got some great products! Go Check it out! 

A Belated March Currently!

So, last weekend was the first weekend of March - but it was also my niece's birthday party - so I was SUPER busy helping my sister pull off a Spa Party for twenty 8 year olds! ACK!
So - better late than never..... I'm linking up with Farley for my March Currently - on a new design that I am LOVING :)

Listening: The snow is melting!! Yay! I'm SO ready for some spring like weather! I have to have some noise on while I work, so right now it's Will and Grace marathon! I love that show :) 

Loving - Our PTO! They gave each teacher $100 for classroom supplies! $50 of mine is for TpT and $50 for Office Max, which brings me to my next thought....

Thinking - I NEED a new planner. I have looked @ Erin Condren and @ Plum Paper, but I just don't have the ca$h right now. Josh and I are on the track to being caught back up, but we just aren't there yet. I am thinking I may use my $50 at Office Max to create a planner and have it bound. Then, I can put EVERYTHING I need into the planner. 

Wanting - More time before SOLs. That's VA's standardized testing - and they're coming up QUICK. Scary quick! I need more time!!!!! 

Needing - STOP PROCRASTINATING. haha -- I finished my Graphing Pack and uploaded it to TpT today. Now I need to finish a quick probability and patterns/properties packet for my kiddos.

Currently February

Ummm....It's FEBRUARY!!!! Where did January go?! I'm linking up with Farley over at Oh Boy 4th grade for my Currently!!

Listening: Seriously....have you heard this song?! I am OBSESSED..... actually obsessed might not be a strong enough word. I LOVE the funky beat, and I love that more and more musicians are introducing some woodwind and brass instruments into their music -- enough techno-keyboard junk! (That's the band geek showing). 

Loving: My Keurig. My hubby gave me money for Christmas to get a Keurig. He said there were too many for him to pick out - so I should pick out the one I wanted. I got the Platinum series-- 5 cup sizes, water filter...and ooohhhh sweet baby Jesus the coffee that I can make on demand has been AMAZING. 

Thinking: Thirty One Valentine's Day special!!! I LOVE that I am part of an amazing company like Thirty One! In February, the new Zip Organizing Utility Totes are only $10 when you spend $35! Plus only $5 personalization cost! AAAHHHH....the organization possibilities :) So, anyone who orders from my website between now and Valentine's could win a $25 gift card to Thirty One! 

Wanting: I made a BIG mistake. On December 16 (yes - I remember the day because my birthday is the 17th) I made the mistake of telling my BFF Candice that I had been so lucky and hadn't gotten bronchitis or some other lung sickness this year! (I have scar tissue on one lung and always get something during the winter!) Shortly after midnight, I woke up with a violent sickness! On my birthday no less!!! It was AWFUL! I was sick through Christmas (norovirus, strep throat, and pink eye all at once!!). Then, my hubby got sick New Years, then I got sick with bronchitis in January, and currently I have an ear infection! My poor puppy also had an ear infection!! 

Needing: Prayers! Whatever your faith, please take a moment to think of a dear coworker of mine...we'll call her "S". Her husband had a brain tumor removed, and it was cancerous. The prognosis has not been good -- 6 months to 18 months to live. I can't even imagine. I am also asking for prayers for my hubby -- he has lost his job :( It's going to be a rough month trying to make ends meet without his paycheck, but hopefully things will work out. 

2 Truths and a Fib: 

Truth: My dog is named after a Drake Song....her name is Yolo, as in You Only Live Once. The story behind that is, when our friend Anita at the shelter asked us to take her in (we had 2 pit bulls already, and live in a TINY house) - my husband and I said, well......you only live once- help as many as you can! Now-- almost 2 years later, she's a huge part of our family! 

Truth: I started blogging to teach myself -- I had read LOTS of blogs, but I hadn't designed any. Then, as part of my summer technology work, I was asked to teach a class on website design and blogging. Website design, no problem....blogging.....let me learn that! :) 

Fib: I'm allergic to cats -- FALSE-- although - we could NEVER own a cat because my dog Angel does NOT like cats. I'm not exaggerating. At the shelter, she escaped her run, and went straight into the cat room, picked up a cat and took off. She was cornered by staff before she could do anything, and dropped the cat. She's broken 2 leashes/collars chasing cats on our walks. (We now use the double fail method for her walks!) 

I've got some great fraction lessons coming up --so look for those to be up with explanations and pictures!! 

My Currently August Linky

Currently: 

Listening: I love love LOVE pandora radio - I always have it on Kidz Bop, Disney Radio or School House Rock on my computer. I had it on working in my classroom the other day, and my friend Megan's kiddos were in and out of the room - so it stayed on "Today's Hits" 

Loving: My new baskets in my classroom. My "color scheme" this year is Black, White and Bright! Anything Black and White, or a bright color - I HAVE to HAVE! I found some great ones at our local Wal Mart too!  When I put up pictures of my room all finished next week, you will see them!! If you just can't wait, you can buy them here! 

Thinking: WHAT happened to summer?! We didn't get out until June 14th. The very next week I had my first week of Technology camp, then a week with the fam at the beach, and it's all a blur after that! 

Wanting: More time in my classroom! Who isn't? I was in my room Wednesday and Thursday last week -and I am SO glad because Tuesday and Wednesday of this week we have two days of SFA reading training! That means we go back Monday, and then our students come in to meet their teachers Thursday. AAACKKK! I love the idea of "Business Day" -- Each year before school starts our county has business day for parents to come in and meet the teacher before school starts. Students can drop off their supplies, and meet the teacher. Teaching in such a small town, I already know many of the families I will be teaching, which is a great feeling! 

Needing: A B2S Bulletin Board idea for outside my classroom. I already have up white paper with a thick black border. I do have a "Welcome" banner I could put up -- it's chevron pennants and super cute - but then what? Help! 

B2S must haves: 1) My Thirty One bags!! Did you know the organizing tote can hold a file organizer?! SO excited to have all my Thirty One gear to keep me organized. 

2) My Sharpie collection - I have an addiction! I have large poster size, I have small extra fine point, I have EVERYTHING! I even bought the Paint Pens to do my names on my desk this year! I found that idea on Pinterest from here!

3. My Teacher Binder -- This thing keeps me ORGANIZED. A section for each subject, student info, calendar; everything in one place at  my fingertips. 

Two more days of Summer.... I hope all of you who also start back next week enjoy your last few days! :)
